Sealed Bid Auction - Frederick Parker Collection

Following on from the update in our last member newsletter, a selection of chairs from the Frederick Parker Collection will be offered for sale this summer.

After more than 20 years at the London Metropolitan University, the Frederick Parker Collection is moving to its new home at the East London Furniture Institute (ELFI) in Docklands - a growing centre for excellence in furniture making and upholstery training. As part of this transition, the Collection is being carefully refined. While the most significant and inspiring chairs will form a permanent display at ELFI, a number of pieces are now available to students, collectors, makers, and enthusiasts through auction.

This offers an excellent opportunity to pick up interesting British chairs with excellent provenance, from every period from the 17th century, including some in unrestored condition and even with original upholstery.

Many of the chairs have a low auction valuation and will be sold by The Furniture Makers’ Company via a sealed-bid auction closing on Friday 24th July at 5 pm.

The bidding form is available to download below. Please ensure you have read the Terms and Conditions in advance.

This sale provides an opportunity to purchase some of these unique and historic pieces, many of which are suitable for reupholstery as part of the AMUSF Diploma syllabus.

The auction catalogue is available to download below.

Please contact The Furniture Makers' Company if if you have any questions about the auction.

Collection or delivery can be arranged via Celtheath Limited at additional cost. Please contact Celtheath directly for more details.
