We offer a range of memberships to support you throughout your working life

Ordinary Membership
Perfect for sole traders, partnerships, or limited companies engaged wholly or partly in the crafts of upholstery or soft furnishing
We try to make it as easy as possible to join us, simply select the category which applies to the size of your business and click on the 'apply' button below
- We offer two levels of Ordinary Membership tailored to suit the size of your business - select Category A or Category B depending upon the size of your business
- We also offer International Ordinary A & B Membership. This category is open to professional applicants outside the United Kingdom. Before applying for this membership category, please ensure you have carefully reviewed the full details, eligibility requirements, and associated costs. - We offer flexible payments, so sign up to pay by direct debit each month, if that suits you best

If you want to check if you have enough experience to apply for Ordinary Membership, give us a call for an informal chat. Ideally we're looking for three years of practical experience, but you might be ready sooner!

Category A
For individuals and small businesses up to three, including principal
£300 inc VAT per annum
plus £72 inc VAT new member assessment fee
Category B
For teams and businesses of four and over, including principal
£500 inc VAT per annum
plus £72 inc VAT new member assessment fee
International
Category A - For individuals and small businesses up to three, including principal
£250 per annum (excluding taxes),
plus all expenses
Category B - For teams and businesses of four and over, including principal
£416.67 per annum (excluding taxes),
plus all expenses
Corporate Membership
Perfect for businesses supplying the upholstery and soft furnishing trades with goods or services
Corporate Members can choose to pay their annual subscription either annually or quarterly. Use the toggle below to select your preferred payment schedule. For annual payments, we can issue an invoice - please contact our office to arrange this option.
Graduate Membership
A membership intended mainly for recently qualified upholstery or soft furnishing students or apprentices who have gone on to work in these fields. But others working in these fields could also be eligible at the Board’s discretion. Graduate members may be in business on their own account or employed
Graduates will usually be required to have three years experience before being eligible to apply for Ordinary Membership. This is an annual membership.
We offer the option to pay by card online, or by annual direct debit. If you select direct debit, the office will be in contact to set up the mandate.

Affiliate Membership
This is for anyone who is interested in joining the Association, but does not qualify for any of the above categories. This includes upholsterers and soft furnishers who are:
- operating outside the UK - unless you're a professional and then consider our International membership
- hobbyists
- enthusiasts
Affiliate membership is an annual subscription.
Retired Membership
For former ordinary members who have retired from active work. You can choose to pay a reduced subscription and enjoy the same rights as Ordinary Members, or opt out of paying and have limited rights including no access to group buying scheme or subscription to The Journal
Retired memberships are annual membership subscriptions. We offer the option to pay by card online, or by annual direct debit. If you select direct debit, the office will be in contact to set up the mandate.
Please note if you sign up as a Non Subscribing Retired Member you receive no benefits from this membership category. Only those who have previously held AMUSF Ordinary Membership are eligible to apply for Non Subscribing Retired Membership. All other applications will be rejected.
Student Membership
Please only sign up for Student Membership if you are undertaking an AMUSF course with an Approved Training Centre
- Each student membership year will automatically end on 31 August annually
- All student membership fees are payable online by card payment
- Please use one email address for your membership. If you need your email address changed, please contact the AMUSF Office.
- Please do not use different email addresses for each Stage. You can check your active subscriptions in your account and renewals should be done through your existing account
- Students are required to renew their membership for each stage they are working on. If students are undertaking two stages together in one year, please sign up for each stage when you commence work
- Students can check their current subscriptions in their online membership account
- All students completing stages 1, 2 and 3 in one year please contact the AMUSF office to update your account once you have subscribed for stage 1
- By registering and paying the membership you agree you have read and agree to the Student Registration & Learning Agreement

AMUSF Rules
By submitting your membership application you agree you have read and fully understand the Rules of the Association and agree to abide with them.
Resignation of Membership
Please note that should you wish to resign your membership you would need to follow Rule 62: "Any member wishing to resign shall give the Association written notice of his intention at least one calendar month prior to the annual subscription being due whether or not he or she pays by instalments".
Subscriptions renew on 1 April annually, therefore if you wish to resign your membership the office must receive this in writing by 1 March. If we do not receive notification subscriptions will be due. If you have an exception, as outlined in Rule 62, please contact the Association Manager to discuss.
