Book Launch: Chair Upholstery
AMUSF Retired Member, Franco Marinelli FAMU has dedicated almost fifty years to the upholstery profession. Professionally qualified in both traditional and modern upholstery techniques, he developed a particular specialism in leather upholstery and achieved the distinction of Leather Master Craftsman.
Franco ran his own successful upholstery business, undertaking a diverse range of domestic, commercial and heritage projects before retiring. Alongside his practical work, he taught upholstery at London Metropolitan University, where he served as Course Leader and Lecturer, helping to educate and inspire the next generation of upholsterers.
After almost fifty years in the upholstery trade, Franco felt there was a need for a practical book that brought together the knowledge, techniques and standards that underpin high-quality upholstery.
Throughout his career as a craftsman, business owner, lecturer and mentor, he has been fortunate to learn from many highly skilled practitioners and, in turn, to pass that knowledge on to students entering the profession.
Chair Upholstery was written to help preserve traditional upholstery skills while making them accessible to today's readers. Drawing on decades of hands-on experience, the book is intended to be both a practical guide and a valuable reference for anyone wishing to develop a deeper understanding of the craft.

Although the book isn’t officially published yet, it can already be pre‑ordered through Amazon and the usual book retailers. Crowood also has it available to order directly here: https://www.crowood.com/book/chair-upholstery/
